Obituary for John James "Jay" McGonigle

John James "Jay"  McGonigle
John James “Jay” McGonigle, 71, of Summerfield, FL, died peacefully Saturday morning, July 18, 2015 at his seasonal residence in Wells, ME, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Milford, MA on September 4, 1943, the son of the late Harold C. and Rita M. (Corcoran) McGonigle. Jay grew up in Hopedale, attending Hopedale High School. He also resided in Medway MA and Hudson MA.
Jay received his B.A. at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. He worked as a Manufacturers Sales Representative for Commercial Food Service Equipment, where he won many awards over the years for his excellence in the field. In 1993, he started his own company called the MPH Group, and served as President until retiring in 2005 to Summerfield, Florida, where he and his wife could pursue their passion of Golf. He was a member of the Cape Neddick Country Club, and was a fan of all Boston sports teams. Jay also enjoyed cooking and barbeque.


Jay was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Leo McCabe.
He is survived by his wife Debra, sons Michael and David McGonigle, daughter-in-law Wendy, granddaughter Caitlin, grandson Sean. Stepson Michael Wilson and granddaughter Emily Wilson, stepdaughter Kristen and husband Brian Gibson; sister Donna McCabe, nephew Daniel and his wife Julie, and their children Ryan, Gavin, and Katie.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 10AM to 12PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, where a funeral service will follow at 12PM. Burial at a later date in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Ocala, FL.
