Joseph L. "Joe"  Zimmer
Kennebunk, Maine

Joseph L. Zimmer, 77 years, a resident of Kennebunk died Friday, January 5, 2018 in Biddeford after a brief illness.

Joe was born in Weedsport, New York, a son of Earl and Anna (Lewis) Zimmer and graduated from Weedsport High School. He attended Auburn Community College. Following High School, he was employed by Leonardi’s in Weedsport, General Electric and Add Electronics in Syracuse, New York.

Joe married his wife, Margery, in 1963 and they resided in Auburn, New York until moving to Kennebunk, Maine in 1973. Joe was employed by Fairchild Electronics in Portland and later became a partner in Coastal Kitchens. He then went on to be an Independent Sales Representative and with his wife, formed the company, J&M Sales.

He loved his work and always enjoyed meeting new people and friends. He thought nothing of driving almost 100,000 miles a year. Joe also loved golf and walking on the beach. He was a good friend to many and will be sadly missed.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Fred and John Zimmer and a sister, Christine Bailey.

He is survived by his beloved wife Margery (Meier) Zimmer of Kennebunk; a brother, Henry Zimmer of Weedsport, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, Maine.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Martha’s Catholic Church, Portland Road, Kennebunk, ME.

Burial will be held at Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society, One Bowdoin Mill Island, #300, Topsham, ME 04086 or to the charity one’s choice in Mr. Zimmer’s memory.
