Obituary for Phyllis Elaine "GiGi" Corliss (Grass)

BERWICK Phyllis Elaine Corliss, “Gigi” to her family, 72, a longtime resident of Berwick, died Friday morning, May 25, 2018 at her residence following a period of failing health.

Phyllis was born in Dover, NH December 8, 1945, the daughter of Henry Bushey and Grace E. Grass, and was very proud of earning her diploma from Noble High School in 1985.

First and foremost, Phyllis made her home a warm and welcoming place for her family and their friends to visit. She lead the Girl Scout troop for many years, was a member and Past Master of Riverside Grange in Lebanon for many years, and also was a member of York Pamona Grange, the district Grange for York County.

Known for her needlework, she loved to sew and quilt. She made quilts for all her children and was eagerly working on a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She also made most of her own clothes, and even made a wedding dress for a family member.

Phyllis is predeceased by a grandson Michael Spencer Jr, and a brother George Bushey.

Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Arthur S. Corliss of Berwick, a son Daniel Corliss and his wife Christie of Lebanon, four daughters Christina Spencer and her husband Michael of Dover Foxcroft, Leslie Guy, Linda Corliss, both of Berwick, and Roxanne Callahan and her husband Daniel of Greensboro, NC, a brother Arthur G. Corliss of Ellsworth, a half-sister Irene Corliss of Sanford, 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at New Covenant Baptist Church, 285 Maple St. North Berwick ME, with Pastor Tim Kezar officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick. A gathering will be held at the church following the interment Service.
