Obituary for Theodore W. Wildes Jr.
Theodore W. Wildes Jr., 88, of Kennebunkport, died suddenly Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.
Theodore was born April 2, 1930 in Kennebunkport, the son of Theodore W. and Elizabeth Inniss Wildes Sr. He attended Kennebunkport schools and graduated from Kennebunk High School, where he was active in sports.
He joined the United States Navy during the Korean War and served aboard ship in the Mediterranean Sea.
Returning to Kennebunkport after his discharge, he began lobstering out of Government Wharf in Kennebunkport for many years. He was also employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 30 years as a rigger in Shop #72, retiring in the early 1980’s.
Theodore loved playing golf and played almost every weekend. He was a member of the Cape Arundel Golf Club and, after moving to Florida in 1985, joined the Lake Worth Golf Club.
He and his wife Roslyn returned to Kennebunkport where they became daily visitors to The Lunchbox in West Kennebunk and frequently visited Government Wharf to keep tabs on his fellow lobstermen.
Survivors include his beloved wife of over 65 years, Roslyn MacCarthy Wildes, two sons, Michael Alan Wildes and Andrew Thomas Wildes, all of Kennebunkport, a daughter, Dawn Marie Stevens of Kennebunk, six grandchildren, Natasha Bowdoin, Jeffrey Stevens, Jr., Christina Wildes, Jennifer Wildes, Thomas Wildes, and Max Wildes, and three great grandchildren, Sybil, Alley, and Brantley.
Services will be private.
