Robert Webster "Rob" Nutter III
On Friday, August 31st, Robert Nutter III, 28, a resident of South Portland, formerly of Kennebunk passed away in his home in South Portland surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with leukemia. Rob is survived by his parents, Katherine Messier and Robert Nutter of Kennebunk, his brother, James, of Portland, his fiancé, Meghan Murray, of South Portland, and his beloved dog, Mabel. Rob was a graduate of Kennebunk High School and Thomas College in Waterville. Throughout his life, Rob excelled in a number of sports – basketball, baseball, and golf, in particular. At Thomas College, Rob was on the basketball and baseball teams that recorded the most wins in a season in the school’s history; in addition, Rob received the Senior Athlete of the Year award. After college, Rob pursued his dream of becoming a golf professional and had just qualified to enter the PGA golf professional program when he was stricken with leukemia. During his life, Rob touched so many lives through his compassion, generosity, humor, and kindness. Rob was a wonderful human being who had a great love of animals and nature, and an unmatched tenacity for life. He will be greatly missed and always remembered as a tremendous person. As a testament to his character, Rob has donated his body to Harvard Medical School for research. The Nutter and Murray family would like to extend their gratitude for the unmatched support from the Kennebunk community, the members of Cape Arundel Golf Club and Coral Creek Club, in addition to his Dana Farber and New England Cancer Specialists’ medical team and Beacon Hospice. Services will be held at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME on Friday, September 7th, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Rob has asked people to donate to The Jimmy Fund, the Foundation4Love in Biddeford, or the soon-to-be created memorial scholarship at Kennebunk High School. In addition, please consider registering to be a bone marrow donor through Be The Match.
