Obituary for Dr. C. Roger Kendrick

Dr. C. Roger Kendrick
Dr. Charles Roger Kendrick, D.O., 80, a longtime resident of Kennebunk, Maine, passed away September 13 following a long illness.

Roger, as most knew him, was born September 4, 1938 in Troy, NY, the son of Arthur T. and Mary M. Moskalyk Kendrick. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Siena College in 1960, and served in the United States Marine Corps, receiving an Honorable Discharge. In 1966 he returned to school and earned a Master’s Degree in Russian History from The College of St. Rose. Upon earning his Master’s, he decided to fulfill a long time dream and go to medical school, receiving his Medical Degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1974.

He was most known for family medical practice of 30 years in Kennebunk. What he found most rewarding was being Medical Director of various substance abuse treatment centers throughout Maine. Roger was Board Certified in both Family Practice and Addiction Medicine serving as a Diplomate of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

Roger was an avid reader, especially of non-fiction books. He studied the Chinese language for many years. He enjoyed playing golf until a wrist injury forced him to hang up the clubs. Known for his sense of humor, he loved to tell stories, most notably of his being the sole survivor of an airplane crash (he was the pilot and sole occupant).

Active in his community, Roger was a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Wells and the Kennebunk River Club. A loving and attentive grandparent, he could always be found following all of his grandchildren’s activities.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Jagielski Kendrick of Kennebunk, his son C. Roger Kendrick and his wife Lisa of Massachusetts, a daughter Vanessa Kendrick Chandler and her husband Christopher of Florida, his sister Joan Miano of New York, and five grandchildren that he just adored, Jameson, Mary, Donovan, Ava and Christopher.

Friends are invited to share a time of visitation with the family, 10 AM to 11:30AM on Monday, September 24, 2018 followed by a memorial service at 11:30AM from Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St, Kennebunk.

Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to The Medical School at the University of New England, 716 Stevens Avenue, Portland, ME 04103 or Above Board, c/o Kennebunk Rotary Club, PO Box 888, Kennebunk, ME 04043( a recovery coach academy for substance abuse addiction training).
