Obituary for Mary Jane Lovejoy (MacDonald)

Mary Jane Lovejoy, 65 years, a resident of Goose Rocks Road, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013 after a long illness.

Mary was born August 22, 1947 in Biddeford, ME to Joseph and Jeannette (Beaulieu) MacDonald, grew up in Saco and received her diploma from Thornton Academy.

She worked at Corning in Kennebunk for 13 years from 1990 to 2003, retiring due to her failing health.

In 1991, she married Kenneth R. Lovejoy.

Mary enjoyed camping, sewing, collecting old bottles and was affectionately known as the “yard sale queen” among her family. She and her husband were active in organizing and working at Toys for Tots drives in the area.

She was predeceased by her father Joseph MacDonald, a brother Michael MacDonald and a sister, Cynthia MacDonald.

Survivors include her mother, Jeannette Hart of Biddeford; her husband, Kenneth R. Lovejoy of Kennebunkport; four daughters, Cynthia Soderlund and her husband Brian of Lebanon, ME, Christine Chapman of Grants Pass, Oregon, Cheryl Kilfoil and her husband Mike of Windham, ME and Karen Chapman and her partner Brenda Gagnon of Northfield, VT; a brother, Joseph “Mac” MacDonald of Biddeford; three sisters, Elizabeth Gregory and her husband Ken of Ridgeway, VA, Patricia Beaulieu of Biddeford, Katherine Knight and her partner Liz Goodwin of Saco; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and step children Gayle Lovejoy, Carol Ann Jessup, Barbara Ellis, and Kenneth L. Lovejoy.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. Funeral services will be private. Should friends desire, donations in Mary’s memory can be made to Toys For Tots at www.toysfortots.org .
